The .22 Remington Jet (AKA: .22 Jet, .22 Center Fire Magnum, .22 Remington Jet Magnum,.22 CFM) is a Center Fire cartridge with a Bullet Diameter of 0.222 in” (5.64mm) that is primarily used in Pistols and Rifles. The .22 Remington Jet originated in The United States in 1961. The .22 Remington Jet also has a case length of 1.28 in” (32.51mm) and an overall length of 1.58 in” (40.13mm).

Notes

The .22 Remington Jet was created in the early 1960s and is part of the .22 Caliber Center Fire Family of Cartridges used often by small game hunters for its high velocities and flat trajectories. Originally, the .22 Remington Jet was intended as a high velocity revolver cartridge for use in S&W Model 53 Revolver, but was later adapted to various bolt and lever action rifles. The .22 Remington Jet is considered a direct ancestor to the .22 Hornet Cartridge, which in turn traces its roots to the .22 Winchester Center Fire Cartridge, a black powder rifle cartridge designed in the mid to late 1880s.

The .22 Remington Jet offers decent velocities at around 1500-1700fps depending on powder charge and bullet weight, but generally still falls far short of the .22 Hornet, intended for rifle use, in terms of velocity and muzzle energy in most applications. It should be noted, the .22 Remington Jet is only approx ~0.12″ (3mm) shorter than the .22 Hornet in terms of Case Length.
