Firearm Cartridge Library Release
It’s been a long and interesting end to the 2014 year, but it has been a productive one and I am happy to move into a fresh new year with new possibilities. With it being so busy however, I have not been able to write much recently. But rest assured, I have been hard at work at something I am very proud of..
With the 2014 year coming to a close, I am happy to announce that the Firearm Cartridge Library has officially released online in a BETA test version 1.0.x. The Firearm Cartridge Library is a large and ever-growing database of Firearm Cartridges. In the initial release, 235 Firearm Cartridges were released online in the library under the Pistol Cartridge Category. These include cartridge data on everything from the extremely tiny 2.34mm Rimfire up to the .50 Caliber class cartridges like the .500 S&W Magnum and the .50 Action Express.
Some of the Data you will see in the Firearm Cartridge Library:

- Cartridge Compare – A feature that allows you to select multiple firearm cartridges and view their data and images in a side-by-side comparison. Simply check the small box at the top right hand corner of the cartridges you want to compare, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the COMPARE button.

- A list of similar cartridges (Coming early 2015!)
In the coming days, weeks, and months, you will see a steady stream of updates to the library with new data being entered nearly around the clock. Into the first week of 2015, you can expect to see the Rifle section of the Firearm Cartridge Library open, with hundreds of Rifle Cartridges to view. The Shotgun section will open soon after this.
A few things to note: Not all data is complete yet, and not all images are finished for each cartridge. This takes some time, but I can assure you I am burning the candle at both ends to get this done. Regarding pressure specifications for different cartridges, I have generally stuck to the most reliable sources when researching Case Pressures for all Cartridges in the database. When possible, the first information researched is always the official specifications as put for by both SAAMI and the CIP. When using information found on this website or any other resources, always be sure to consult a professionally published reloading manual or other official resource to compare data. When possible, always check multiple sources, regardless of how much you trust where your cartridge data is coming from. One last note, please make sure to read the site Terms & Conditions as well as the disclaimers within the Firearm Cartridge Library before using the data found in our database. We are not liable for how or why you use the information found on this website.
Official Firearm Cartridge Library Release Schedule
The official release of the Firearm Cartridge Library is scheduled for the first week of February, 2015. At this time, I believe mostly 100% of the Cartridges should be up in the Library with data and images, as well as the completed versions of the features listed above. Past this point, the future holds a lot for the Firearm Cartridge Library, and you can expect to see some really cool updates with awesome new features that are already in the works. I would list them out for you here, but I think I will wait and keep some things as a surprise!
I think that about sums it up for now. Thanks for reading, and as always take care and be safe. I’ll check back in the New Year!
